STANLEY FURNITURE HELPS OUTFIT COASTAL LIVING IDEA HOUSE

Stanley Furniture, the industry’s leader in the design of residential wood furnishings, and Coastal Living magazine, the popular shelter publication and authority on all things coastal, have teamed up once again – this time to furnish the 2009 Seawatch Idea House.

Nestled deep in the community of Seawatch at Sunset Harbor, this year’s Coastal Living Idea House is situated on a bluff overlooking Mercer Mill Creek and wildlife preserves in the Southport, N.C. area. The original Cape design spans more than 6,000 square feet and includes distinctive architectural features like a sleeping porch, an outdoor kitchen and a kayak storage room.

Coastal Living Idea Houses are nationally recognized by the magazine’s three million readers as the best designed, constructed and decorated homes in the country. These homes represent the newest coastal trends – from architectural elements to building products to home design.

“Coastal Living approached us early in the year about participating in the Seawatch Idea House,” said Glenn Prillaman, President and COO of Stanley Furniture. “Needless to say, we were enthusiastic about showcasing our product against such a beautiful and inspirational backdrop.”

More than 20 pieces of furniture from a variety of Stanley Furniture collections were used to furnish the Idea House.

“We were excited to partner with Stanley Furniture on the Seawatch Idea House, said Nicole Hendrick, Coastal Living’s Idea Home Manager. “Including the Coastal Living collection, Stanley Furniture’s array of residential case goods provided our team with so many unique design possibilities and style selections.”

Completed just before Labor Day, the Seawatch Idea House is featured in the November issue of Coastal Living magazine along with a pictorial spread highlighting Stanley Furniture and other contributing sponsors.

“Our relationship with Coastal Living – the magazine and the brand – continues to flourish and expand into new directions,” added Prillaman. “This house proves that Stanley Furniture and Coastal Living continue to make a great team.”

At this spring’s High Point Market, Stanley Furniture unveiled a tandem of full collections, both rooted in the traditional style category. The aptly named collections, City Club and Grand Continental, share design characteristics that are easily considered classic, time-honored and respected. At first glance, however, it is clear that each collection offers its own interpretation of traditional.

“When you think about the traditional style category, it’s important to consider both sides of the coin,” said Stanley Furniture’s Vice President of Product Management, Adam Tilley. “On one hand, some consumers patron traditional icons like Ralph Lauren and Burberry representing precision, restraint and a sense of understatement. Conversely, brands like Zegna and Armani often connote passion, romance and feeling. This season, Stanley focuses on offering consumers both, ‘Traditional’ and ‘Continental’ style.”

The launch of the City Club and Grand Continental collections represent one of the many steps Stanley Furniture is taking to become the affordable provider of quality, high-end, American-made furniture.

City Club will be available in late August with Grand Continental following in September.
